Are you a new blogger on the block and you want to make sure that you do it right the first time around? Or are you a frustrated writer who just can’t tell what you’re doing wrong? Then this article might just be what you need. I’ll be discussing on why sticking to who you are and the things that you like will make your blog a successful one. This article will make sure that not only will your blog stands out from the rest of the crowd, but that you will also have a great time writing it at the same time.
The most common rookie mistake amongst first-time bloggers is that they try to be something that they are not, simply because they figure that is the best way to get followers. Other rookies are afraid to present their own personal opinions because they feel that people won’t appreciate them or accept them. However, this is a no-no that should always be avoided. The biggest reason to avoid doing that is simple: it is a great way to make your blog completely devoid of traffic. Your readers are not stupid, and trying to sell them a fake personality or a false front is likely to turn them away, not pull them in. They will take one look, see through the façade, and walk away.
Another reason is that you are going to hate writing your articles. Nothing sucks the energy out of a writer then trying to put up a show for his or her readers. Writing something that is completely out of your interest will have the same effect. Stick to what you like and the kind of person you are. It will give you a better shot in producing a work that is quality content and will attract attention.
However, that does not mean that you should make things too personal for your readers to understand. And when I say making things too personal, that does not mean ripping out any personal opinions that you might have. All it means is that you shouldn’t post things in which you wouldn’t want a stranger to know. For example, posting your house address, phone number, your daily schedule and location, your PIN number and social security number are definitely above and beyond the pale. But then again, I think that any average person would know that.
Also, watch what you put in there. As was said before, putting in your personal opinions is perfectly fine, and it might even improve the amount of viewers that you get. However, there is also a limit to what is acceptable. Just ask yourself the question: is this going to turn some people away because it is discriminatory/insulting/just plain wrong?Being yourself is not going to hurt your blog, nor is it going to deprive you of success. In fact, it might just be the key to your blog’s success. Use your unique ideas and perspectives to put you ahead of the crowd.
